globalflag

Perhaps, in the future – if it ever arrives – there will be no national symbols at all? All the people of Earth will have a common flag, simply a transparent fabric (or a clear plastic rectangle). When gazing through the fabric/ plastic rectangle, we will always see our dear homeland, no matter where in the world we are. For there are no longer borders – and we belong everywhere.

GlobalFlag is a photo relay project based on Norwegian author Tor Åge Bringværd's vision of a united world with no individual nations or national flags. Six Plexiglass plates travel the world, from photographer to photographer, each taking a photo through and around the plate to be launched at the art exhibition Typically Norwegian - National Symbols at Spriten Kunsthall in the town of Skien in Telemark county in Norway on May 8th, 2014 as part of marking the 200th anniversary of the Norwegian Constitution.
